Shane Osborne has worked in the gaming industry for 8 years and has managed gaming personalities, communities and sponsorships for some of the largest Midwest gaming events. He's a graduate of Ohio University and lives in Columbus Ohio.
12PM: Overwatching as a Head Coach in eSports: My Journey So Far
Successes and Challenges Chad Reynolds has faced coaching esports from a traditional sport coaching background. Most importantly, a Q and A session on coaching a program from an esport heading coaching position.
Chad Reynolds is currently in his 2nd season as Miami University esport team's head coach. He spent 14 years coaching Division I track and field for two Mid-major schools. In addition to being the head coach, he is an academic advisor for Miami University's College of Creative Arts. He currently is an assistant coach for Talawanda High School volleyball and track & field teams. A Findlay, Ohio, native, Reynolds attended Culver Military Academy in Culver, Ind., where he played basketball, football and track & field. Reynolds graduated from Miami in 1999 and went on to earn his master's degree in curriculum and instruction from Ohio in 2003. He is currently working on his PhD at Miami University. Reynolds resides with his wife, Virginia, in Oxford. The couple has three daughters, Contessa, Linda, Dotty, and one son, Arthur Rylen.

Akakioga is a SoCal home grown girl, now Cincinnati local cosplayer that has been loving the craft since 2014. She loves crafting, sewing, armor making, and especially detail paint work! Having been featured on pages such as Blizzard Entertainment / Overwatch, Kotaku, BlackNerdProblems and has even teamed up with video game company Obsidian Entertainment, she's really beginning to make her mark on the cosplay world at large!
2PM: Building Collegiate Esports from Student Clubs to Varsity Teams
Phill Alexander will present his experience as co-director and the faculty lead for Varsity Esports at Miami University (the first division 1 school to offer varsity esports). He'll cover how they developed and implemented their varsity program for 'League of Legends', 'Hearthstone', and 'Overwatch', what the current varsity esports scene looks like, and offer a look into the future of varsity esports.
Attendees will learn more about the collegiate esports organization landscape, their role in and relationship to the campus and student life, and insight into the work needed to build and sustain these communities.
Dr. Phill Alexander is a researcher who looks at race in games, collaboration in online games, digital identity, writing for games and streaming media. He is an Assistant Professor of Games in the Armstrong Institute for Interactive Media Studies at Miami University in Oxford, OH. He has a forthcoming book entitled Collaboration and Identity in the World of Warcraft (with Parlor Press) and is one of the founders and co-directors of the Miami
University Varsity Esports Program.
